Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball team will return to action tomorrow afternoon. They are facing Pierre T.F. Riggs on the road at Pierre Riggs high school. The first pitch will be at 4pm for the JV and then 5:30pm for varsity. 

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel boys tennis team rounded out the Eastern South Dakota Conference meet in Yankton, SD yesterday. Mitchell finished third overall in the ESD meet in the two-day event. Dayton Adams took the individual conference championship in Flight 6. The Kernels had a pair of runner-up finishes as well with Simon Wiese coming up short in Flight 5 and Adams claimed second in Flight 4 singles. Mitchell collected some additional points throughout the singles bracket with additional Top 5 finishes. Next is the Class AA State Tournament May 21-22 in Rapid City, SD.

Mitchell Golf

The Kernel girls golf team competed in Yankton at Fox Run Golf Course in the Marchand Cup. It was Ryder Cup style scoring in Yankton against the Gazelles, and the Kernels were able to capture the Marchand Cup again this season.

Mitchell Track & Field

The Kernel track & field teams will have a Varsity Invitational tomorrow. They’ll travel to Kimball high school to take on Kimball-White Lake. Start time is TBD.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins took on the Miami Marlins last night at home to begin a new series. It was a low scoring outing between the two teams and a burst in bottom of the fifth inning notching three runs did enough to get a 3-0 win. Both teams will play again tonight at 6:40pm on MLBTV. 

NBA

Another single game is on tap for playoff action as teams continue to battle to get to the Conference Finals. Minnesota put a up a good fight until the third quarter when San Antonio went on a run that the Timberwolves could never recover from. The Spurs now take a 3-2 series lead after their 126-97 victory. Tonight you’ll have: 

  • No. 4 seed Cleveland Cavaliers @ No. 1 seed Detroit Pistons at 7pm on ESPN (series tied 2-2)
