MITCHELL, S.D. (Mitchell Now) — Tour de Corn gets underway Friday, Aug. 14, beginning a three-day run of activities in Mitchell and adding to a busy late-summer weekend in the community.
The event is scheduled for Aug. 14-16, with activities associated with Kiwanis Woodlot Park and the Corn Palace, according to the City of Mitchell’s official August calendar.
Friday marks the opening day, giving residents and visitors another reason to spend time in Mitchell as the community hosts multiple events during the weekend. The South Dakota State Amateur Baseball Tournament is also underway at Cadwell Sports Complex.
Those planning to attend Tour de Corn should check official event information before heading out for the latest schedules, locations and other event details. With activities taking place at more than one location, visitors may also want to allow additional time to travel between venues and find parking.
The Corn Palace is located in downtown Mitchell, while Kiwanis Woodlot Park provides another setting for Tour de Corn activities.
The combination of Tour de Corn and state amateur baseball makes Aug. 14-16 an especially active weekend for Mitchell. Residents traveling around event areas should anticipate increased visitor activity and plan accordingly.
