MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The deadline for Davison County residents to register to vote in South Dakota’s June 2 primary election is quickly approaching.
Eligible voters have until May 18 to complete their voter registration or update existing registration information. State law requires voter registration forms to be submitted at least 15 days before an election.
Residents can check their current voter registration status through the South Dakota Secretary of State’s voter information portal at South Dakota Voter Information Portal.
Voter registration forms can be downloaded from the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website at South Dakota Voter Registration Information.
Absentee voting for the June primary election began April 17, allowing voters to cast ballots early ahead of Election Day.
The 2026 South Dakota general election will be held Nov. 3. The voter registration deadline for the general election is Oct. 19, while absentee voting begins Sept. 18.
Election officials encourage voters not to wait until the final days to verify their registration status and submit any required paperwork before the May 18 deadline.
