MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell Board of Education reviewed early details of the district’s 2026–27 budget during its most recent meeting, though no formal action was taken.
School officials said the budget remains in development, with final approval anticipated later this summer.
In addition to the budget update, board members approved moving forward with hiring two grade-level instructional coaches. District leaders said the new positions are designed to support students and teachers across multiple elementary schools, helping strengthen academic outcomes and instructional consistency.
The board also acted on several personnel items. These included the approval of new teacher and coaching hires, as well as the acceptance of resignations within the district.
Other agenda items included time for public comment, updates from board members, and a report from the superintendent. The meeting concluded with an executive session to discuss contract-related matters.
No further action was announced following the executive session.
