MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Dakota Wesleyan University student-athletes Rylee Rosenquist and Landon Ruesink have been named recipients of the KMIT DWU Student-Athlete Awards, a recognition presented by Mitchell Media Group for more than 40 years.

The annual award honors one male and one female athlete who demonstrate excellence in athletics, academics, leadership and character. The awards were presented by Mike Kelly of KMIT 105.9.

Rosenquist, a junior basketball player and business major, holds a 3.2 GPA and is known for her strong commitment to community service, volunteering at numerous events throughout Mitchell. On the court, she reached a major milestone by scoring her 1,000th career point during her junior season.

Ruesink, a standout in both football and baseball, maintains a 4.0 GPA and serves as a co-captain of the football team. His accomplishments extend beyond campus, earning him several prestigious honors. Among them is the NAIA A.O. Duer Scholarship Award, one of the association’s highest academic honors recognizing junior student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. He has also been named the Luke Gary Community Impact Award winner for his contributions off the field.

The KMIT Student-Athlete Awards continue a decades-long tradition of celebrating well-rounded student-athletes who make a lasting impact in competition, in the classroom and in their communities.
