Mitchell, S.D. –This Great Plains Athletic Conference released the men’s basketball preseason poll. Coach Wilber and company are picked to finish fifth in the conference with 66 points. Morningside was picked as the favorite to win the GPAC with a total of 96 points and is the preseason coaches’ selection to win the 2021-22 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Men’s Basketball Championship.
Tigers’ men’s basketball finished last season just missing the NAIA National Tournament due to a COVID-19 reduced field. DWU basketball posted records of 19-8 overall and 14-6 in conference play just a season ago.
Wilber and company will tip-off the 2021-22 season next week Wednesday, October 27 at 7 p.m. from the Corn Palace; squaring off against in-state rival Dakota State. Then on Saturday, October 30 at 4 p.m. the Tigers will face off against Dickinson State before traveling for the entire month of November.
Points were awarded on a 10-1 basis and coaches could not vote for their own team.
