Dorothy died Friday, October 22 at the Good Samaritan Society in DeSmet.  Memorial services will be Wednesday, November 3 at 1 PM at the Carthage Community Center.  Inurnment will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery at Carthage.

Dorothy was born on December 19. 1918 in Danube, MN to Fred and Bertha (Riel) Seehusen, the second of eight children.  She moved to Carthage with her family in 1926, where she attended school and graduated in 1937. She met her future husband Joe at a dance in Carthage and they were married in 1938.  Joe and Dorothy worked at Tailor Ranch west of Iroquois.  Joe was a ranch hand and Dorothy cooked for the entire working crew.  Eventually they purchased a farm west of Carthage and lived there from 1941-1986 before they moved into a home in Carthage.  Joe passed away in 2000, and Dorothy remained living at the house until March of 2020 when she moved to the Good Samaritan Society in DeSmet.  She was a great neighbor and was known for her excellent cooking, especially her pecan pie.

Grateful for sharing her life is one sister, Ardene Langfield of Farmers Ranch, TX; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Joe in 2000; three sisters; and four brothers.

Arrangements are with the Willoughby Funeral Home in Howard.
