Cole Peterson connected on a 40-yard field goal with no time left on the clock to give his Pierre Governors its fifth-straight state championship on Friday night at the Dakota Dome.

Tea Area jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. Tea Area 1uarterback Cael Lundin scored on the opening drive of the game on a 1-yard run to cap off a six-play, 29-yard drive. The Titans extended the lead with a second score with 4:27 left in the first on a 32-yard connection to Gabe Grant from Lundin.

Tea led 21-0 before Pierre marched back to outscore the Titans 30-6 in the final 25 minutes of the game.

Pierre quarterback Lincoln Kienholz scored all four touchdowns — two rushing and two passing — and tied the game with 3:27 left in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run. Peterson missed the PAT to keep the game tied at 27-27.

Kienholz finished with 347 yards passing and completed 11-of-23 passes and rushed for 190 yards on 26 attempts.
