MITCHELL — The Mitchell Kernels boys improved to 5-2 on the season with a 69-55 win over Yankton inside the Corn Palace on Friday. Caden Hinker led the way scoring with 22 points, and Dylan Soulek held Yankton’s Rugby Ryken to 3-of-12 shooting from the field and eight points.
The Mitchell girls forced overtime with a buzzer-beating 3-pointer by Taylor Giblin. Giblin finished with 11 points in the game. Sawyer Stoebner led Mitchell with 15 points, and Sarah Sebert added 13.
The Kernels return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 11 when they hit the road to take on Huron. Tip off for the girls game is set for 6 p.m., with the boys to follow on Pure Oldies 103.5 FM.
