Mitchell firefighters responded to a fire at a tanning salon on North Main Street on Friday. The call came in at around 12:30 PM from a patron of the business. Smoke was visible from Cabana Tan in the Northstar Mall. North Main Street was blocked off for more than two hours while firefighters were on the scene. Mutual aid was requested from Mount Vernon and Ethan. The fire was knocked down in about 10 minutes. No one was injured, and the cause of the fire is not known. Other businesses, including Sylvan Learning Center, a teeth whitening business, a counseling office, and a massage business, sustained minimal damage. Cabana Tan will be closed indefinitely as a result of the fire.
