BROOKINGS, SD (MITCHELLNOW) Former South Dakota State trickster Coby Hilton will compete in the 100-meter dash at the U.S. Olympic Trials this weekend in Eugene, Oregon.
Hilton, who has competed at the last two USA Championships both indoors and outdoors, is slated to compete in the fourth heat of the preliminary round at approximately 8:22 p.m. Central Time on Saturday. Competition will be broadcast by NBC and streamed via Peacock. The semifinals and finals will take place on Sunday.
A member of the Tracksmith club team, Hilton enters the Olympic Trials with a personal-best mark of 10.14 seconds. In preparation for the trials, he competed at meets throughout Europe, including Austria, France, Germany and Sweden. He plans to return to Europe for another round of competition following the Olympic Trials.
Originally from Marshall, Minnesota, Hilton won six Summit League individual titles during his collegiate career. He swept the 100 and 200 meters at the league outdoor championships in both 2019 and 2021, and also won both the 60- and 200-meter dashes at the 2021 indoor championships. He was honored as Summit League Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year in 2021.
