MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Mitchell Police responded to the report of an attempted kidnapping last week. It happened around 3:30pm on Thursday, in the 1700 block of North Kimball Street. Officers said the suspect was not at the scene when they arrived, and the child was reported safe with their mother. Upon investigation, authorities said they found the suspect was in a recent relationship with the victim’s mother. They were reportedly in a heated argument over property, when the male suspect allegedly threatened to take the child. No arrests were made, and police said the incident was eventually resolved.
