PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) At Monday night’s meeting, the Mitchell Board of Education approved the 2025-26 school year calendar with a 5-0 vote. School will start on August 20 and end on May 22, with a break from December 19 to January 2 and two snow days built in. The board also heard great news about the district’s new literacy coaches, who’ve already made a noticeable impact in improving reading skills, especially with younger students. The board approved some personnel moves, including new hires and resignations, and covered other topics like the district’s most recent audit and upcoming contract talks. The next meeting of the Mitchell Board of Education will be held on March 10th.
