PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Attorney General Marty Jackley, along with 24 other Attorneys General, is urging the U.S. Senate to pass the HALT Fentanyl Act. The Act aims to permanently classify fentanyl and its lab-created copycats as Schedule I drugs, closing a loophole in current law. The copycats are reportedly even more dangerous than prescription fentanyl, and the drug’s classification as Schedule I was temporary and expires on March 31st. The Act seeks to make this status permanent. Jackley emphasized the need for this change to help law enforcement combat the dangerous drug trade.
