Mitchell, SD (MITCHELLNOW) – The 22nd annual Media Group Radiothon has raised more than $50,000 for the Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund (MCSF), marking another successful year of community support for local education. The event serves as the main fundraiser for the MCSF, which helps local high school graduates in Mitchell pursue higher education.

The Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund has been assisting graduates from Mitchell High School and Mitchell Christian in managing the growing costs of college. Every student who applies for the scholarship receives an award. For 2024, each eligible graduate is expected to receive $750 to help them with their educational expenses.

Since its creation, the MCSF has distributed 3,273 scholarships totaling more than $1.48 million. The fund is largely supported through donations from local businesses, community leaders, and residents who contribute during the annual Radiothon.

The fund also offers an added benefit to graduates who choose to attend Mitchell Technical College or Dakota Wesleyan University. These students receive a dollar-for-dollar match of their MCSF scholarship, further expanding the reach of these funds.

Julie Brookbank, of the Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund, expressed gratitude for the support, saying, “We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated this year to the Mitchell Community Scholarship Fund. The support we received today brings us closer to our goal of funding a scholarship for every member of the graduating class of 2025 at Mitchell High School and Mitchell Christian. Chris Johnson, Operations Manager at Mitchell Media, also praised the community’s involvement, adding, “The support we receive from the community during the Radiothon is incredible. It’s inspiring to see how much people believe in the potential of our students, and we’re honored to be part of making their futures brighter.”
