Deputies were called to a location south of Hill City around 1:00 p.m. after the hiker found a badly decomposed body. Officials said they are coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies to review missing persons cases in the area. According to a press release, the victim’s identity and cause of death are being investigated by the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office with help from the Rapid City PD.
