MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A Minnesota man is headed to prison for his role in a plan to sell meth in South Dakota. Francisco Mendez was sentenced to 14 years in federal prison. Back in June of 2023, authorities found three pounds of meth on Mendez during a traffic stop in Nebraska. The 40-year-old later told law enforcement that he and the driver had bought the drugs in Kansas and were returning to South Dakota to sell it on the reservations. Mendez also said they had made the same trip a couple weeks earlier.
