MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW)  South Dakota’s legislature passed several election related bills last session. One political organization is looking to stop a particular bill in it’s track. But one of the biggest issues of all for the organization is that they say the bill will take away the rule of the people. Regional bankers expect farm income to go in reverse again this year for a third straight year. Up to this point, there have not been many farm loan defaults, but Creighton University economist Dr. Ernie Goss says there are some early signs that could be changing. Creighton’s monthly rural Main Street index shows that farm equipment sales were in negative territory last month for the 19th straight month.The governor announcing that he is signed into law House Bill 12:59. Legislation that prohibits trans students from using the communal facilities that match their gender identity at South Dakota public schools. It’s in an effort to protect the state from what the governor terms awoke agenda. The ACLU of South Dakota opposed the bill. No word on if the ACLU has legal action planned.
