MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) In a razor-thin election on Tuesday, voters in the Mitchell School District elected Kimberly Lofgren and incumbent Terry Aslesen to the Mitchell Board of Education. Lofgren led with 527 votes, followed by Aslesen with 512. Incumbent Deb Olson came in just 14 votes short, with 498. Turnout was about 6%, with 1,537 total votes cast. Olson thanked supporters and said she won’t ask for a recount. Lofgren and Aslesen will officially join the board in July. The next school board meeting is set for Monday, June 9.
