MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell City Council has voted down two controversial ordinances. The first would have established term limits for city leaders and the other would have created a rental housing inspection program. Both measures failed during Monday night’s meeting. The term limits proposal was rejected unanimously. The rental inspection ordinance also failed, with only one vote in favor. Dozens of landlords and property managers spoke out against the measure, citing concerns over regulation, cost, and government overreach. Mayor Jordan Hanson said it was intended to protect tenants, not punish good landlords. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
