PIERRE, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A young voice is stepping into South Dakota’s political arena. Robert Arnold, a 20-year-old college student, has announced his candidacy for governor in 2026. Arnold, a Democrat and member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, says his youth brings fresh energy and new ideas to the table. The Dakota State University student will just meet the minimum age requirement of 21 by election day. He’s no stranger to the Capitol, having served as a legislative page and intern.
