MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell High School marching band is regrouping after a tough weekend at the Bands of America Regional Championship in Waukee, Iowa. The Daily Republic says  they battled 30-mile-per-hour winds and temperatures in the 90s,  before falling short of making the finals but earning praise from director Joel Van Peursem for their perseverance. Nearly 30 schools competed—many much larger than Mitchell’s 107-member band. Van Peursem says the students are working hard to prepare for their next shows, including the Dutchman Field Championships in Orange City this weekend and the Omaha Marching Invitational on October 18th.
