MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — The Mitchell Pizza Hut is lending support to Huron as the city continues to clean up after Thursday’s severe weather.
The restaurant is teaming up with the Facebook group Mitchell 911 News to hand out free pizza to residents who have been busy working up an appetite, tasked with getting life back to normal while without power. As of 8:15 Sunday morning, NorthWestern Energy still shows a significant number of people in the dark. After nearly 60 hours without a fridge or freezer, meat and other perishable food items are unsafe to eat.
The Pizza Hut crew plan to be at Huron Fire Department Headquarters at 1357 Dakota Avenue North. The delicious pies will be available for pickup at 11:15 a.m. Organizers ask that anyone stopping by should park on the north side of the building. The bay doors will need to remain 100% clear in case crews from the department are called out to an incident in the community.
