MITCHELL, SD (Mitchell Now) — Residents looking for some spooky family fun can explore local ghost stories and historic settings during three upcoming Mitchell After Dark events.
The first gathering takes place Thursday, Oct. 15, from 8 to 9 p.m. at the Masonic Hall. The program invites attendees to explore Mitchell’s history, mysteries and traditions, with ghost stories among the evening’s themes.
Residents can bring a local ghost story, unusual experience or family tale to share, or simply listen.
The spooky storytelling continues at the Dakota Discovery Museum Historic Village Thursday, Oct. 22, from 7 to 9 p.m. with Ghost Stories at the Museum.
The event offers an opportunity to hear ghost stories among the museum’s historic buildings and experience Mitchell’s past in a different setting.
Mitchell After Dark concludes Tuesday, Oct. 27, with Mysteries by the Fire at the Mitchell Indigenous Archaeological Site and Museum. Classic mystery stories and old-time radio tales will be shared around a campfire by the lake.
All three gatherings offer a seasonal outing for families interested in local history and spooky tales. Parents seeking information about age suitability can check with organizers before attending.
Residents should also keep an eye on the events page at MitchellNow.com for more community activities and seasonal fun.
