Dakota Wesleyan University Athletics and Tiger Track & Field and Cross Country are excited to welcome Jared Seckel as the new head coach of both programs.

Coach Seckel most recently served as the head coach of MidAmerica Nazarene University Cross Country from 2022 through the previous school year. In his four seasons leading the Pioneers, along with his assistant duties on the track and field team, Seckel had a hand in developing over 30 HAAC All-Conference Athletes and multiple national qualifiers, along with helping the women’s track and field team win an outdoor conference championship in 2024. Director of Athletics, Ross Cimpl, stated his excitement regarding the move.

“Coach Seckel is an outstanding addition to our athletic department with a great history of success, specifically in the NAIA. We have so many things to be excited about within both the Cross Country and Track & Field programs, and Coach Seckel leading the way provides us the opportunity to continue to elevate our standards and expectations. We cannot wait to see what he can accomplish here at Dakota Wesleyan.”

Seckel helped build up the MNU cross country and track and field programs with stout recruiting and an emphasis on developing well-rounded student-athletes, which fits well into his new role leading both units at Dakota Wesleyan University. Before his time in Olathe, Kansas, Seckel served as a graduate assistant distance coach at Southwest Minnesota State University for two years and was an assistant at Concordia University, Portland, from 2018-2020. Seckel was also an All-American cross-country athlete in the NWAC and was a member of both the cross-country and track and field programs at Concordia during the conclusion of his undergraduate studies from 2015 through 2017.

Seckel will inherit programs that have earned 16 individual All-Conference distinctions and 73 top-10 all-time program marks over the past two seasons as he prepares DWU Cross Country and Track & Field for their upcoming 2026-27 campaigns.
