An Epiphany man has been charged with DUI, hit and run from an injury crash, and failure to report a crash after he allegedly hit a child with his vehicle and fled the scene. 58-year old Donald Letcher is accused of driving his pickup onto a private driveway near the intersection of 422nd Avenue and 264th Street about 7 miles southwest of Epiphany. The girl was playing when she was struck. The incident happened at around 8 PM last night. After the girl was hit, a witness followed Letcher to his home in Epiphany. Authorities located him after 20 minutes, and Letcher failed field sobriety tests. His BAC was nearly three times the legal limit. Letcher, who faces up to around three years in prison, is currently being held in jail on a cash-only bond.
