The great home and away Fourth of July holiday baseball series continued between Sunshine amateur baseball foes the Platte Killer Tomatoes vs the Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs last night in Corsica. Just like last year the first game of the two game holiday series was a pitcher’s duel between the Horned Frogs Blake Moke and the Killer Tomatoes Michael Buitenbos. The Killer Tomatoes Michael Buitenbos was near perfect in his five innings of work as he did not allow a hit or a run for that matter although he did allow a walk while striking out 3.

The Horned Frogs Blake Moke was the first pitcher to blink has he gave a up a two-run blast to the Killer Tomatoes Hunter Hewitt and just like that it was 2 to nothing Platte Killer Tomatoes. The Platte Killer Tomatoes would go on and win this game vs the Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs last night in Corsica by the final of 7 to 1. The Killer Tomatoes Michael Buitenbos was near perfect in his five innings of work as he did not allow a hit or a run while striking out 3 and picking up the victory.

Blake Moke took the loss for the Corsica Stickney Horned Frogs going seven innings while allowing 4 runs on 5 hits while striking out 11. The Sioux Falls City FC Soccer Club in only their third year as a franchise and finished the season on Sunday night going undefeated at 9-0 and won the Northern Division. Sioux Falls City FC clinched the WPSL’s Northern Conference championship and automatic bid into the playoffs with a 1-0 victory on Sunday night in their regular season finale against St. Croix at Stillwater High School in suburban Minneapolis, Minnesota, to finish a perfect 9-0-0. Sioux Falls City FC scored their lone goal in the 14th minute off a great pass to Taylor Thomas whose swift kick found the back of the net. One of the reasons for The Sioux Falls City FC Soccer Club success is the addition of Mia Mullenmister whose 130 goals in her career and 43 goals in her senior season led the Mitchell Kernels soccer team to state title game. The Sioux Falls City FC Soccer Club won the Northern Division as only conference champions qualify for the WPSL playoffs, and they are in. The postseason will begin on July 13-14 with regional semifinals and finals in the West, Central, South and East Regions. One site in each region will host two semifinal games on July 13th with the winners of those games squaring off in the region final the following day. The four region winners would then advance to the WPSL Championship the weekend of July 20-21 at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

The DWU Women’s Elite Basketball Camp runs is on Thursday July 11^TH and are for young girls’ basketball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game so they will be more skilled at the high school level. The camp instructors are the DWU women’s basketball coaches and players. The girls’ basketball camps are designed for instruction and coaching in and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. The DWU girls’ basketball camps are for girls entering the 9th grade through 12th grade. Check in time is at 9 a.m. Thursday’s schedule is 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Session two is 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Session three is 2:30 p.m.to 3:15 p.m. The DWU girls’ basketball camp is $75 per camper (T-shirt and a meal).
