The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners have now won five games in a row thanks to another big win on Wednesday in Watertown vs the Watertown Black Sox 14u baseball team in the first game of a doubleheader. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners were riding a four-game winning streak thanks to wins vs the Harrisburg 14u gold team which they beat in game one of the doubleheader winning by the final of 5 to 3. They also won game two of the doubleheader winning by the final of 14 to 4. They were back on the diamond last Tuesday in another doubleheader winning game one vs the Post 15 14u baseball team by the final of 8 to 7. they would also win game twos doubleheader winning by the final of 7 to 6.
Game two’s doubleheader vs the Watertown Black Sox 14u baseball team was all Watertown as they scored 5 runs in the bottom of the third and another 4 runs in the bottom of the 4th plus 2 more in the bottom of the fifth to win the game by the final of 11 to 1. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners were held to just three hits in the game which were collected by the Mitchell Black 14u Teeners Jett Krantz, Ethan Hegg, and Jack Massey. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners are now 8 and 12 on the season and head to battle Post 15 14u baseball team today starting at 5 pm.
The Parkston Devil Rays were at home last night at the pond in Parkston in a non-league matchup vs the Wynot Expos in a high scoring affair. The Parkston Devil Rays jumped out to a big lead in the game scoring three runs in the bottom of the second then another 2 runs in the bottom of the third and another 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th plus 3 more in the bottom of the fifth to grab a 10 to 4 lead. Then the Wynot Expos lived up to their billing as a high scoring team and scored 6 runs in the top of the 7th to tie the game at eight.
The Parkston Devil Rays would score 2 more runs to grab the lead back then the Wynot Expos tied the game again 12. The Parkston Devil Rays hero would be Carter Sommer who drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth as the Parkston Devil Rays would hold on and win the game by the final of 13 to 12. The Parkston Devil Rays are now 9-11 on the season and head to Menno tonight to battle the Mad Frogs starting at 7:30 pm.
The DWU Women’s Elite Basketball Camp runs is on Thursday July 11TH and are for young girls’ basketball players who will learn basic to advanced technique that feature progressive drills that will improve an individual’s game so they will be more skilled at the high school level. The camp instructors are the DWU women’s basketball coaches and players. The girls’ basketball camps are designed for instruction and coaching in and will be given in small groups to help campers master the skills that are covered. The DWU girls’ basketball camps are for girls entering the 9th grade through 12th grade. Check in time is at 9 a.m. Thursday’s schedule is 9 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Session two is 12:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. Session three is 2:30 p.m.to 3:15 p.m. The DWU girls’ basketball camp is $75 per camper (T-shirt and a meal). The Mitchell city golf tournament is the weekend of July 13th and 14th at Lakeview GC. Both rounds of this year’s Mitchell city golf tournament will have two rounds of stroke play taking place at Lakeview GC. Tee times for both days will be from 8 a.m. to noon. For round one on Saturday, parings and tee times will be based on players flights. The competition includes a men’s championship and a handicap flight, a senior division and a women’s division.
