Local firefighter Tiffany Boehmer is making history as the first woman in a leadership role at the Mitchell Fire Department. Last week, she accepted the position of assistant fire chief, after serving eight years with the department as a firefighter, paramedic, and battalion lieutenant. In her new role, Tiffany will work closely with the current Fire Chief to help shape the department’s policies, oversee operations, and focus on firefighter safety. One of her main tasks will be taking over the fire marshal duties. They’re also working to join South Dakota Task Force 1, a statewide urban search and rescue team.
