MITCHELL, S.D.  (MITCHELLNOW) Mitchell Detective Andrew Becker received the South Dakota Highway Patrol Superintendent’s Performance Award for his heroic actions during a car crash last fall. While off-duty, Becker stopped to help and pulled an unresponsive driver from the car and performed CPR. Despite his efforts, the driver died, but Becker’s quick thinking helped the other passengers. Becker was nominated for the award by Trooper Shane Johnson, who managed to pull off a surprise presentation with help from the Mitchell Chief of Police.
