Mitchell
The Kernel baseball team took on Sioux Falls Lincoln last night on the road. It was a battle between the two teams, but a walkoff run in the bottom of the seventh inning got the Patriots the win, 6-5. Next, Mitchell will host Sturgis for a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 4:30pm.
The girls varsity golf team will be in action this morning. They will compete in a Varsity Quad at Bakker Crossing Golf Course in Sioux Falls, SD at 10am.
The varsity boys tennis team will compete tomorrow evening in Rapid City, SD. They will take on Rapid City Stevens at Sioux Park at 6pm in a Varsity Invitational.
The Lady Kernel softball teams will take the field again today. They’ll get set to host Brandon Valley here in Mitchell at Cadwell Park. The JV will play first at 4pm and the varsity will follow at 5:30pm.
Dakota Wesleyan
The Tiger men’s golf team competed in the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships over the last couple of days. They finished in fourth place as a team with a score of 35 over par and earned 29.10 points. Three Tigers were in the Top 10. You had Dakota Munger finish 10th overall with a five over par score. Peyton Bettcher tied for fifth with his teammate Connor Calahan, with each finishing two over par. Calahan also earned All-Conference honors for the season in the GPAC.
MLB
The Minnesota Twins took on the Chicago White Sox last night. Minnesota came away with a nice win over the White Sox by a score of 4-2. They will host them again tonight at 6:40pm.
NBA
The NBA playoffs continued with a trio of Game 2’s last night. Results include the No. 4 seed Pacers taking a 2-0 series lead over the No. 5 seed Bucks with a 123-115 win. Then it was the No. 1 seed Thunder defeating the No. 8 seed Grizzlies for a now 2-0 series lead, winning 118-99. The night ended with the No. 3 seed Lakers tying up the series 1-1 with the No. 6 Timberwolves after a 94-85 win.
