MOUNT VERNON, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The federal trial for Cory Cumings, a Mount Vernon man charged with illegal possession of firearms, has been postponed until September. Cumings faces one felony count for allegedly possessing over 100 firearms and ammunition while being an unlawful user of controlled substances. He has pleaded not guilty. The seized weapons, taken from his business and home, are also subject to a federal forfeiture case, which is on hold pending the outcome of the criminal trial. Cumings’ attorney argues that his constitutional rights were violated during the seizure. For more crime stories from MitchellNow.com, click here.
