MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Feeding South Dakota is feeling the impact of federal funding cuts. The nonprofit says a sudden drop in USDA support has slashed their food inventory by 14 percent, canceling enough to equal 1.25 million lost meals each year. That’s about a $2.5 million hit. In April alone, the organization lost nearly 150 thousand meals, and more cuts are on the way. Prairie Farms is stepping up with product donations and a matching fund to help close the gap. For every dollar donated, they’ll match two more. Feeding South Dakota is still operating as usual and urging those who can to donate in person or online.
