MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Project Prison Reset Task Force is narrowing its focus, and now says the next men’s prison will likely go near Mitchell, Worthing, or on state-owned property. Worthing’s proposed site sits just south of town, but Mayor Crystal Jacobson says the city’s infrastructure isn’t ready and she’s already hearing pushback from residents. In Mitchell, the proposed site is southeast of city limits. Mayor Jordan Hanson says some in the community see economic opportunity, but long-term impacts are still up for debate. Public forums are expected in both areas as the task force weighs its final decision. For more Government stories from MitchellNow.com, Click Here.
