MITCHELL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) The Mitchell Board of Education will take up final approval of the 2025-26 district budget at its meeting this evening. The board will hold a public hearing before voting on a general fund of about $24.6 million, along with capital outlay, special education, and other funds. Tax levy requests are expected to be at or near the maximum allowed. The board will also consider setting meal prices for the next school year, approving the after-school KERNELS program, and making personnel changes, including hiring new special education teachers and aides. The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy. The meeting is open to the public and will also be livestreamed on the Mitchell Republic’s website.
