BROOKINGS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) A Brookings man is in jail after leaving a baby in a hot car in a parking lot for more than half an hour in Tuesday’s dangerous heat and humidity. Justin Okolo said he was only gone a few minutes, but surveillance video reportedly showed otherwise. Police information officer, Sergeant Aaron Benson commended observers and one of the store’s employees for their quick action to save the child. The eight-month old was taken to a hospital and is going to be ok. Okolo is charged with Cruelty to a Minor.
