(MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says new legislation requiring weekly updates of the statewide voter registration file on the Secretary of State’s website does not conflict with existing laws. Rep. Taylor Rehfeldt of Sioux Falls requested the opinion after raising concerns about how much voter information could legally be displayed online. Jackley concluded that both laws can co-exist, allowing the Secretary of State to post updates while placing limits on how the data is accessed. In a letter sent to firms including Anthropic, Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, OpenAI, and xAI, officials cite reports of AI chatbots engaging in sexually inappropriate conversations with minors.
