Mitchell Softball

The Kernel softball teams will finally begin their season tonight. They’ll be on the road in Sioux Falls, SD. Mitchell will face Sioux Falls Lincoln with the JV playing at 4:30pm and the varsity at 6pm. They will be both also play again tomorrow at 4pm for JV and 5:30pm for varsity against Sioux Falls Washington.

Mitchell Track & Field

The Kernel track & field teams are on the road tomorrow. They will be in Yankton at Yankton high school against various other schools. They will get started at 4pm.

Mitchell Tennis

The Kernel boys tennis team is set to compete tomorrow morning in Mitchell. They’ll be at Hitchcock Park hosting multiple schools. Those matches will begin at 11am.

DWU Golf

The Tiger men’s and women’s golf team started in the DWU Spring Invitational yesterday at Lakeview Golf Course in Mitchell. The DWU men are sitting in second after the first day with a 24 over par score. Individually, they have two players in the Top 10. Peyton Betcher is tied for seventh at four over par and Dakota Munger is tied for second with one under par. For the women, they sit in fourth so far at 122 over par. Individually, they have two players in the Top 5. Sara Sudenga is in third with a 15 over par and Allison Meyerink is in second at nine over par. Both teams will continue play today at 9am this morning.

MLB

The Minnesota Twins closed out the series with the Toronto Blue Jays yesterday with another win. Winners of six of their last seven games, Minnesota beat Toronto, 8-2. The Twins now sit at 9-7 overall. Minnesota is playing again tonight as well when they host the Boston Red Sox at 6:40pm on MLBTV.

NBA

The Minnesota Timberwolves closed out their regular season with a win over the New Orleans Pelicans, 132-126. They were led by Terrance Shannon, Jr., who had a team-high 26 points. Minnesota finishes the regular season with a 49-33 record and sits as the No. 6 seed in the Western Conference where they will face the No. 3 seed Denver Nuggets when the NBA Playoffs begin.
