A Brookings man convicted of making counterfeit currency was sentenced on Tuesday. 28-year old Julian Huffman was sentenced to 21 months in federal prison. Huffman pleaded guilty in March after being indicted by a federal grand jury in December. The conviction stemmed from incidents between September and November of last year when Huffman made dozens of counterfeit $20 Federal Reserve notes and passed them at various businesses in and near Brookings. Huffman will be on parole for three years following his release.
