The season is winding down in the South Dakota amateur baseball league and one thing is for sure the Winner Colome Pheasants are having a remarkable season. The Pheasants have now won 13 straight games to wrap up their Sunshine League amateur baseball season as they made quick work of the Parkston Rays last night winning by the final of 14 to 6. The Pheasants jumped out to a 7 nothing lead after two innings as Austin Calhoon batted 3-for-6 with a walk scoring a run, Reed Harter drove in three runs on three hits, including a double and a home run, and Aiden Barfuss launched a solo home run along with drawing two walks.

Dillon Lambley collected two hits and an RBI, while Drew DeMers and JJ Farner each tallied hits in the win, including a double by Drew DeMers and Derek Grasser earned the victory on the mound for the Pheasants, issuing no runs on three hits and one walk in five innings, striking out nine batters. The 17-1 Winner Colome Pheasants await the start of the District 5B Tournament starting next Thursday at the Pond in Parkston as the number one seed.

The South Dakota Amateur Baseball Poll the week of July 17th.  The Renner Monarchs are the new No. 1 team in Class A in this week’s South Dakota amateur baseball poll. The Winner-Colome Pheasants continued to lead Class B. The final poll of the season will be released next week. Here is this week’s complete poll:

The SDGA | Sanford Golf Series is a series of events for older junior golfers who are looking to make an impact on their high school teams and to prepare them to play golf at the collegiate level. High school players (class of 2024, 2025, and 2026 have priority). Several area Mitchell boys’ and girls’ golfers are competing in the series that is being played at nine different golf courses which leads up to the SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP (Top point leaders from other events qualify – 27 boys / 15 girls) Monday, July 22 – Minnehaha CC (Sioux Falls). The 2024 DWU Football putt and shoot fundraiser is on Friday July 26th with a 10 a.m. Trap Shoot session at the Mitchell Gun Club. That will be followed by a 1:00 p.m. golf outing at Wild Oak Golf Course. The cost of the DWU Football shoot and putt fundraiser is $250 for one team =2 people. $100 for golf only with one participant or $400 for two teams. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners are now 11 and 15 on the season after a head to battle at Post 15 14u baseball team on yesterday splitting a doubleheader and winning game one by the final of 7 to 4. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners are now 3-1 vs Post 15 14u baseball team this season. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners scored two runs in the top of the first then another two runs in the top of the fourth to grab a 6to 4 advantage over Post 15 14 u baseball team.
Mitchells Ethan Heeg drove in the insurance runs needed to put the game on ice for The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners. Post 15 14u baseball team won game twos matchup winning by the final of 19 to 4. The Mitchell Black 14u Teeners are now 11 and 15 on the season as they head to Huron for a doubleheader on Friday with the first game starting at 5 pm.
